About
Hi! My name is Emma, and I am an incoming student at Northwestern university. I took advanced math all throughout highschool, including, Honors algebra 2, Honors Precalc, Honors Calc, Multivariable Calculus, and Calculus with Applied Statistics. I tutored in all of these classes throughout my four years at Milton Academy. In highschool I was named a National Merit Scholar, and I was inducted into the Cum Laude Society (honors society of my highschool).
As a tutor I strive to stimulate the largest boost in both understanding and performance for math students in basic math all the way through calculus. I don't just drill formulas; my services will ensure that every student understands how each concept is derived, allowing for an increase in understanding and a new ability to break down unfamilier kinds of problems by applying old tactics and information.
I am very reliable and flexible with my time so scheduling won't be a problem. Most importantly, I am dedicated to make learning the subject as enjoyable or as rigorous as possible for my students. The needs and goals of my students always come first. I hope I can help you suceed!
I have a passion for math, and revisiting the fundamentals is integral to having a solid foundation for any advanced course. I also love working with people, and tutoring is a great way to establish new connections! There is no better feeling than seeing material click with a student :)

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically like to start off by assesing the students goals, whether that be improvement in a particular course, test prep for an exam, or improvement in a specific area or concept. After establishing the end goal of our session, I go through some problems, steadily increaing in difficulty to asses the students strengths and weaknesses, allowing me to create a taylored plan for that individual as we move forward with our sessions!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken an extensive number of math courses both in and outside of school, including honors geometry, honors algebra 2, honors precalculus, honors calculus, advanced multivariable calculus advanced calculus with applied statistics, and BC calculus. I have tutored in math for four years, cumulatively working with over 30 different students. I have gone through multiple training sessions in order to streamline and maximise the efficiency of my tutoring.
