Hi there! My name is Amanda.
I have been working in Technology for over ten years now. I specialize in not only teaching basic computer skills, but also zoom video training, resume creation, and Microsoft Office Word.
Additionally I am a native English speaker, offer teaching and tutoring in the English language. I have a acredited ESL certificate , and have experience teaching students from all over the world. Using fun and unique teaching methods you will practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing the English language. I can speak and write in Swahili, Portuguese, and Cape Verdian Creole.
My lessons will be tailored to your needs, and we will work together to create a study plan that works best for you.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, we will establish clearly what the goals, and needs are for the student. After we create a personalized plan to determine the best plan of action. Students may be asked a short series of questions to be able to create a personalized lesson plan.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked with technology and in customer service for over 10 years now. I worked in Informations for the past year in a medical setting, handling all the technical work.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching a few years ago when I was looking for remote work that would allow me to travel. I started working for a online company that specialized in teaching chinese students English. I fell in love with my students and with teaching!
Even before that I have been involved in voluntary teaching work to help others learn more about the bible. It brings me the utmost satisfaction and fulfillment to help improve others lives with the knowledge that has been taught to me.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ranging from ages 3 to 18. I have mainly taught students from out of the U.S. Including Chinese students and students from different parts of Africa.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was particpating in a volunteer work that helps local refugees from Africa, when I met one young girl who was struggling to communicate to fellow volunteers. We set up a date to start studying english and were able to better aquaint ourselves through her showing me pictures of her family. It was a really nice bonding experience, and helped me to learn more about her background and culture.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher that not only has the knowledge, and expierience of the subject your looking to learn, but the desire to really help others succeed.
