Flute Lessons By Maya
About
In my studio, I will empower, encourage, and inspire my students through music. My students will learn the fundamentals of performance, body awareness, and the foundations of music theory and aural skills. They will also learn to recognize and perform different musical styles while studying the musical context of each piece in order to gain knowledge of musical history and cultures.
Each of my students will get personalized lessons based on their skills, interests, and overall needs. I am flexible in my teaching methods to find the best way for each student to succeed. Students will get both positive and constructive feedback in order to improve their skills and gain understanding of their own progress. To encourage a student’s love of music and music-making, they will get to choose a work they are interested in learning. At the end of each year, students will gain performance experience through studio recitals.
Through music lessons, my students will learn how to be goal oriented for short and long term goals. Good habits will be developed through their practice schedules and writing in their practice journals. Music will also strengthen brain development, which will help them in other areas of academic study, such as mathematics.
I have studied flute performance from the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts, recieved my Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from Gettysburg College, and am currently a candidate for the Masters program at The Longy School of Music of Bard College.
