About

Hi! My name is Auden, and I am a trombone performance student at Berklee College of Music. I graduate soon, and want to start working up a trombone studio. I'm currently located in Boston, and I travel to Seattle occasionally.

I have been playing Trombone and Euphonium for over 10 years, and have experience playing in all sorts of genres. I focus mainly on jazz, but was classically trained and have played everything from pop, to baroque music, to brazilian fusion. I have experience with students who are in 5th-12th grade, and I am open to all students (even if you don't play trombone!)

You can check out my instagram (@audendurant) or my website (www.audendurant.com) to find recordings of me playing or more contact info.

I have built many special relationships with teachers I've had in my past - both as friends and inspirations. It is important to connect with the student personally to get them in a healthy mindset for growth. This means that when the student overcomes a difficult task, Some of that gratification is felt in me. A student - teacher connection is symbiotic and as a teacher, I am constantly learning from my student. I strive to be a musical role model to my students, just like the teachers that have lead me down this path

Very prepared and professional. An invaluable learning experience in matters of both brass fundamentals and jazz improvisation. A great instructor and player that I greatly enjoyed working with!

Auden has a passion for music, but more importantly he also has a passion for sharing his musical knowledge. This is evident in the way he teaches by deeply caring about the subject matter and his students. Auden is a great teacher and a great player! Thanks for instilling a passion for music in me and inspiring me to continue with music!

    Frequently asked questions

The first things I like to do revolve around fundamental techniques - making sure the student is breathing properly, has an appropriately set embochure, etc. After that I like to build a warm up routine for the student that will help progress them towards their goals. After this, depending on the student's level, we will move on to scales, lip slurs/flexibility, and range building.

I graduated from Berklee school of music in the spring of 2021 with a BA in Trombone Performance. I have studied with many great trombonists and teachers and want to pass on that knowledge!

I charge $50 per 1 hour lesson, and $30 per 30 minute lesson. Once we have a schedule set, I will charge for 1 month of lessons at a time. When this happens, you can cancel a lesson/s and get a full refund as long as there is 24 hour's notice.

I started in high school, mentoring a couple younger trombone students and jazz musicians. I also had a couple middle school and elementary school aged students in highschool that I worked with for periods of time.

I think that it is good if a student comes into the lesson knowing what they are looking for! Having an idea of where you want to go with your playing will help ensure the first lesson goes smoothly.
