What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I do my best to help him/her to improve, however, they understand and learn better after they try my instrctional advice based on their own understanding and adaption to their own condition rather than only following the steps. Sports is about interation in the environemnt with all parties. Therefore, trying is more important than following.
