Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will start by having a discussion about where you are currently at, what direction you would like to go, such as fine art, commercial, portraiture, etc. and then I will create a curriculum for you, based on your needs and your goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from the Hallmark Institute of Photography in 2006, and I’ve been working as a professional in the field for over 12.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It’s important to find a teacher who has experience in the area that you’re looking to excel in. It’s also important that you enjoy working with the teacher, and you get along with them, and their personality.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have a good understanding of exactly what it is you want to learn, what genre of photography, what skills do you already have, and what skills you want to develop. The more you know about this, the more a skilled teacher can help you achieve it.
