I never thought at the start of this journey that Id be playing classical music on a mandolin, but often, it really fits, and in general, its helped to develop a kind of musicianship that I find I can apply to anything else I want to play. Adam is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor about music and music history. He supports a number of group projects (focusing on several different styles including classical, Celtic, and Klezmer) for students, which are an excellent way to learn.

Adam is a very knowledgeable music teaching, proficient with several instruments. He is patient, and adjust lessons to the students needs. I had him as a mandolin teacher for seven years and was very happy with his teaching.

Adam is great. I look forward to my lessons with him every week. I am currently studying mandocello with Adam. He makes our lessons productive and fun. Adam is really good at emphasizing correct technique, and explaining the history / origin of new songs when he introduces them. I feel like through my lessons with Adam, I am learning good technique as well as music theory which I never picked up (or maybe resisted picking up) as a classical music student.

I wanted to learn how to play mandolin as an adult, and Mr. Sweet was patient with my learning and lack of time to practice. He is patient, kind, funny and full of good suggestions. He works with me and helps me figure out what I need to do in order to play well. I have done lessons both in person and on Slack! He’s an awesome teacher!

Adam is an incredibly knowledgable, kind, and patient instructor who has completely redefined the way I approach the mandolin. I highly recommend him as an instructor.
He manages to walk a line where I feel like I’m in control of the pace and contents of the lessons, but at the same time he is always ready with recommendations or suggestions to guide me. And I don’t feel like his suggestions are out of a book...he is really good at assessing where I’m at in my playing, how I could improve, and what I realistically have time for in any given week, and he specifically tailors the contents of the lesson to suit my particular requirements.
We get into serious music in our lessons, but the atmosphere is always relaxed and I appreciate his sense of humor. And I also appreciate his holistic approach...we cover way more than I ever expected to: music theory, music history, technique, how to get the most out of my practice sessions, and what to think about when I do.

My parents started me on Suzuki violin in 1966.  I participated in many music ensembles and events throughout my childhood, joining GBYSO in 1978 and touring Europe.  In college, I studied Music, specifically Jazz, Composition, Ethnomusicology, Electronic Music and Violin performance.  After college, I joined the Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra and the Keene Chamber Orchestra.  My duo, Fiddle Hill performed in a world music festival in Egypt, and toured Ireland, Canada and the US in the early 20s.  In addition to music, I develop websites and social media platforms for musicians and ensembles.

I work primarily with adults 18 and over and specialize in working with people with special needs

I was thrilled to organize and be a part of a concert by Mandolin New England, a 501c3 nonprofit mandolin orchestra
