Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My approach is to tailor each lesson to the students goals and needs. Everyone learns at a different pace and in different ways so all my students have their own custom lesson plan. The key is to relax and have fun!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching private lessons for guitar for 25 years. In addition I have taught electric bass guitar, drums and audio production.
I studied at the Hartt School of Music and the Hartford Conservatory and I have a degree in music production from Full Sail University. I've been performing with various bands and in many musical theater productions since the early 90's.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching at a local music store in 1997 after finishing school at the Hartford Conservatory. Since then I have taught at various music stores, schools and privately.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages at all levels.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that connects with your goals. Don't settle for a teacher who only goes by a book or curriculum and ignores your musical interests. If you aren't excited about the lessons you most likely won't put in the practice.
