Lessons With Tony
About
With a background in exercise science and motor learning, I have an extensive understanding of how a person acquires a skill as well as the progression they must take to get there. I have my Masters of Education in Heath and Wellness and I am a certified Exercise Physiologist.
I am a Physical Education teacher by trade and am versed in many movement forms, however baseball is my passion. I played from tee ball to varsity, American Legion and was part of successful all star tournament teams. I have been coaching all aspects of baseball since 2006 and have coached all levels of play.
I really enjoy watching a student or player grasp a new concept or gain more confidence in their own abilities. It is rewarding to help someone grow and watch them develop a new understanding of the game and the science behind it.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When first beginning with a new client, it is important to understand how they learn and what motivates them to improve. I will let them know what the end result is and will outline a plan to get there. It is important for me that the client understands as much about the skills as possible so that they can become self sufficient and be able to troubleshoot on their own. I am merely a tool that they can use to accomplish their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In college at the University of Vermont, my concentration was in Exercise Science and was loaded with sport science and motor learning classes. This gives me an edge from other trainers who only have playing experience to their credit. I have an understanding of not only the skills needed, but the most efficient path to acquire them.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My base rate is $40 for a half hour for one person and $50 for 2-3. It would $60 for an hour or $80 for multi person. If we work outside at a local field, the rate stays the same. However if we work inside at a facility, the cage rental fee would be added onto that.
How did you get started teaching?
My career path as a physical education teacher has kept me in the lesson business.
What types of students have you worked with?
From children as young as 5 to players as old as 30.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't just look at their playing experience. Look at how they teach. Do they approach each lesson the same way or are they willing to try new things to help you break through your plateaus?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How do they handle a student who is struggling with a particular skill or technique?
