Beast 'Em Basketball Training Academy
About
"I never tried to be better than anyone. I listened, worked hard and did everything I needed to do in order to be better than I was the day before." - A.J Stephens
A.J Stephens, most commonly known as Coach Beast, is from Stamford, CT. While being a student-athlete himself, Coach Beast worked for a company called the Stamford Peace Basketball Club as their Athletic Placement Specialist. He introduced the position to the company and had a tremendous impact immediately. Before working for the SPBC, Coach Beast helped many young student-athletes with their recruiting. By joining forces with the Stamford Peace Basketball Club, he built relationships with High School, Private School and College coaches. Coach Beast led with athletes recruitment, College visits, SAT preparations and as a family advocate when families had questions or concerns.
In High school, Coach Beast started on the varsity level since his sophomore season. He finished his high school career averaging over 25 PPG and 15 RPG. Not only was he a 1,000 point scorer, but he also collected over 1,000 rebounds. After graduating high school, Coach Beast was ranked in the nation and had hundreds of college offers on all levels. He decided to start his college career at South Plains College in Texas. After spending one season in Texas, he decided to be closer to home and play for DIII Curry College in Massachusetts.
"A.J has been one of the best players to ever play for Curry College", says Malcolm Wynn (Curry College Head Men's Basketball Coach). In two seasons, Coach Beast has averaged over 16 PPG and over 12 RPG. He was on paced to reach the 1,000 point mark in less than 2 seasons at Curry College. He made the All-Conference Team during the 2012-2013 season. Coach Beast helped set a school record for most wins in a season with 21 wins.
