About
I have a bachelor degree in Science but painting is my passion. I have studied and practice a great deal about painting, to be able to teach.
I have been teaching painting techniques to children and adult at my studio since 2012. My students (majority children) learn about watercolors, color pencil, charcoal, and acrylics with a hands-on approach, I show them how to do it and they go home with beautiful art works.
In 2010 I became a member of Blackstone Valley Artist Association and Franklin Artist Association with whom I have exhibited my work and have earned awards.
The last 4 years, at Hopedale Schools Art Show My Students won first prizes in all the categories, which makes me very proud of them, you can see their works at my website http://www.dcolorex.com/-students-art-estudiantes-arte.html

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I introduce him/her to the class, I explaing them what is the project for the night, (the materials and the subject are already on the table). I give the instruction to the most advance ones, that will work more independently in different projects, then I will show the new student how to handle the brush to achieve a particular effect, together, step by step we will develop the painting. Usually we finish a work in a 2 hour class.

I have taking classes at , Casa de la cultura en Cali, Colombia, the Worcester Art Museum, and John's Kilroy Academy in Rockland Ma.

To whom it may concern:
It is our pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Ms. Libia Goncalves. Our youngest daughter has attended a weekly art class with Libia since September 2015. Not only is this class her favorite extra-curricular activity, the artwork she has produced in such a short time is nothing short of amazing. Over the past five months our daughter has worked with acrylic paint, learned different brush strokes and techniques, studied color and most recently began drawing portraits.
Libia was referred to us by a close friend, as well as several members of our community. She is an amazing art teacher; able to motivate her students to perform their best work while at the same time keeping the atmosphere fun and enjoyable. Her genuine affection for the children is her art class is also readily apparent and a great comfort. Unlike other teachers, Libia truly enjoys spending time with her students and interacting with them at their level.
Libia is an exceptional art teacher and would be an asset to your school. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you would like to further discuss Libia’s qualifications.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Bourgeois

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
To hire an Art teacher, I will advise the student to check the art work's progress of that teacher's students, if all the show improvement, is a good teacher.
