About
First and foremost, allow me to introduce myself accurately. I do not brandish the title of professor, or even teacher, I am for all intents and purposes a person who tutors. In that vein and in the process I guide and coach and cheer on the people I work with.
My experience in photography has been a love affair that has spanned a period of over forty years, but my love of photography is not my qualifications to tutor someone on the subject. I studied photography at BU’s school of communication, went on to graduate from the New England School of Photography, operated a portrait and modeling studio in Boston in the 80’s, and have been published in magazines in countries throughout the world, such as S. Korea, France and the Netherlands.
My approach to tutoring focuses on what I call the three pillars of photography, 1. comprehensive camera operations, techniques and functions, 2. mastering the basics of photoshop, and 3. mastering lighting and composition.
I have designed an in-depth detailed study course to teach each pillar, each course comes with a list of objectives. The objectives for the Comprehensive Camera operations, Techniques and Functions are:
1. Equip students with foundational and advanced knowledge of camera operations.
2. Teach practical techniques for diverse photography styles and settings
3. Enhance creativity and technical proficiency in handling photographic equipment.
Mastering the Basics of Photoshop:
1. understand the photoshop workspace, tools and panels
2. Learn basic image editing, including cropping, resizing and adjusting colors.
3. Explore layers, layer styles and blending modes.
4. Gain skills in retouching images, removing backgrounds and using selection tools
5. Create simple graphics using shapes, text and brushes
6. Export images for different platforms and purposes.
Mastering Lighting and Composition:
1. Establish a strong foundation and working knowledge of complex lighting and challenging
composition applications.
If this approach to learning photography meet your demands, let’s go! Let’s get you on track to shoot like a pro.
