Student: I like how she pushes my personal growth and makes me a better flute player.
Parent: She really brings out the best in my child. She has taught him from the very beginning and now he sounds beautiful on the flute. She plays with him during lessons, which pushes and inspires him. She meets his occasional resistance (being tired at the end of a lesson, or not feeling into it at the start) with a confident, kind firmness that Im sometimes jealous of! He admires her so much and corrects less-than-ideal behavior very quickly. He has grown in confidence from working with her. We really love her!

We highly recommend Agita as a flute teacher. She worked with my daughter for several years, guiding her from a complete beginner to an intermediate level while building strong fundamentals and growing confidence. Agita is highly experienced, patient, and consistently supportive, all of which played a major role in my daughter’s musical development.
She places a strong emphasis on scales and solid technique, ensuring a proper foundation while still keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable. Agita strikes a wonderful balance between fun and seriousness — motivating her students while maintaining high standards. Her personality is very pleasant, and she creates a positive, encouraging learning environment.
One clear example of my daughter’s progress was her performance at a school concert, where several parents were impressed by her playing and asked for Agita’s contact information afterward.
Another example of Agita’s dedication was when she attended my daughter’s chamber music recital at NEC, even though she was not teaching that ensemble. After observing the performance, she thoughtfully incorporated adjustments and additional elements into her lessons based on what she noticed, helping my daughter improve ensemble skills, musical awareness, and overall performance. This truly demonstrates how supportive, invested, and detail-oriented Agita is as a teacher.
We are extremely grateful for her commitment and would wholeheartedly recommend her to any family seeking a knowledgeable, caring, and dedicated flute instructor.

Frequently asked questions

In the first lesson we get to know each other.

I find out what are student's present skill level, problems/or desires and goals.

My main goal is to make sure student has the best possible fundamentals, which is the most essential attributes for good sound and technique development.

Scales, etudes, musical pieces and good amount of theory included in the lessons are very important.

I also expect disciplined work and devotion to home assignments and healthy practice, because student/teacher relationship is never "one way street" and consistency is the key in learning fundamentals. That said, I am patient and flexible.

I am a mother of a 10 year old child.

I've been teaching flute since 1996 in my homeland in Latvia. I came to the US in 2006 and ever since have been freelancing and teaching privately in Boston, MA are.
