Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I often try and evaluate where a student is in their learning process. I want to pin point strengths and weaknesses to then make a plan. Starting with a diagnostic test is always beneficial, and making a schedule and lesson plan is an effective way to make sure I can cover all required material on time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a college student at Williams College with many qualifications in AP exams and SAT exams. This can be seen in my stats and description.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I will determine an hourly rate of about 20 dollars, but depending on subject and time constraints may raise this or lower.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started tutoring just wanting to be able to help kids get into the college they want. The basics of this process are the numbers, and what you want to acheive are the best stats. Without these numbers, colleges may not even glance your way.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with a variety of highschool students and am willing to work with kids who have not started secondary school. My goal for each student is to provide them with the ability to feel apt in their tests and in a subject.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event was getting into my dream school of Williams College. It was an event that took years of hard work and it finallly paid off. It did not start just from the 4 years of highschool, but through my dedication in my school work from elementary school.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice is to find a teacher who you are comfortable with for one, as building a trustful relationship allows for conversation and discussion over questions. Next you need someone who has expertise in the subject, and I believe through my testing I have shown that I am more than proficient in these categories.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should think about what their goals are, and evaluate their own skill set. We are both working towards the same goal, and it is a team effort to reach them. We both need to be dedicated to this.
