Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to find out what they know and what they want and work with them to reach their goals in a fun, easygoing and approachable way!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I’ve got a BFA in fine art, Associates in Design and I have been creating art and designing both freelance and professionally for over 10 years! I’ve got 6+ years teaching all age groups and I love doing it!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I start with a base price for a class and then alter it to fit the requirements, materials and students needs, If i have to travel further for a student i will also charge a slight amount more
How did you get started teaching?
It came naturally
What types of students have you worked with?
All types from children to adults, both experienced and with special needs and complete beginners
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Know what you want! It’s easiest to teach someone if they have goals they want to reach, also be open minded and positive, art and stress do not go together, so be prepared to make mistakes and learn from them. If you’re new, don’t get hung up on the experience and abilities of your mentors, you’ll get there too!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What areas would you like to develop as an artist? Do you have a style you prefer? Are you looking to build your own style? Are you comfortable mixing media, breaking out of your comfort zone to create something new? Are you looking for one class or multiple classes to develop your skills? What can i do to help you learn?
