About
Do you want to know how to draw and paint?
Do you want to learn concrete steps toward making a convincing, realistic and beautiful work of art? I can help.
I'm Eliza Jane Moser, professional realist painter based out of Springfield, Massachusettes. After years of studying traditional Old Master techniques in Florence, Italy, I am dedicated to sharing my knowledge with those eager to learn.
My aim as an art teacher is to help every student hone their artistic skills and make the kinds of paintings and drawings they've always wanted. Even group lessons are catered to the individual student, helping them personally develop their abilities to their highest potential.
Figure Drawing, Portraiture, Still Life Painting, and Color Mixing are just a few of the courses I offer. All of my methods are based on traditional Atelier methods, most of which are not available in mainstream art schools today.
In collaboration with other schools/organizations, I am able to offer group classes in various locations in New England, as well as private lessons out of my studio in Springfield.
So if you are curious or passionate about furthering your artistic training, sign up today!
Teaching may be my second greatest passion after painting; I remember the struggles of being an art student, and the difference a good teacher can make. Helping individuals with a real interest in art develop their skills is therefore one of the most fulfilling ways to make a living as an artist.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Lessons are catered to the skill level and interests of the student.
Most of my students want to learn how to draw or paint more realisistically, and I have a curriculum developed specifically for this; however I am open to the individual goals of the student, and if they have a project or goal in mind, we can tackle this together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied classical methods of drawing and painting for many years, three of which were at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy, an academy which focuses on the artistic methods of the old masters.
Additionally, I have had 10 years experience in teaching classes, workshops and private lessons, which has helped me learn the most concise methods of communicating my techniques to my students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For private lessons I charge $40 an hour, but offer a 10% discount for students who book 4 or more lessons at once.
