About

I allow for creativity and outside of the box thinking. I will provide most supplies, some props for still life, and live models for figure study (extra fee for models), on request. I can plan for private or small group field trips to art galleries/ other artists studios to see different processes, art museums, and art supply stores for exceptional learning experiences.(field trip and entrance fees fees apply and tbd)

I can teach painting, mixed media, and clay mediums from beginner to those wishing to explore more freely in their approach. If you're wanting more out of clay, like wheel throwing, I suggest you contact Baltimore Clay works for class availability.

Beginning in Spring 2024 I will have quarterly workshops and paint and sip nights which is a great way to de-stress and free your mind.

I enjoy helping others explore their emotions in painting and developing their own hand at creating.

It's a delight introducing young and mature people into the world of art. Everything from bringing art into a persons awareness and the appreciation in every step encompassing the process of making art, showing art, and the pride and fulfillment for the person who just created something unique to them.

I’ve been following Michelle for years. I love how she creates her art - pictures within pictures within pictures... She has a gift for color combinations and bringing out my emotions when I cannot find the words. I’m looking forward to my 11 year old taking a class with her because I think she will teach him how to find his own voice in his art.

I loved Michelles gentle non -judging style. She meets you where you are in your art journey and helps you think outside of the box. Her knowledge of color and design is great and you can learn a lot about composition and color harmony.

Michelle was very knowledgeable about acrylic paints and showed me many different techniques using different bodied paints. I never realized there were so many varieties of acrylic paints and mediums or surfaces to paint on. I will looking forward to discovering more with mixed media too.

    Frequently asked questions

I like to find out what the student is interested in exploring and then work on preparing that student with the tools needed to become better aquainted with the materials or subject.

Field trips to art galleries, museums, artists studios and artist supply stores can be planned as well for opportunities to see how other artists work. No experience is necessary.

First I'd like to find out what the student is intersted in learning but in general, if it's painting for example, we explore the different tools needed, including brushes, mediums, and surfaces, to better aquaint the student to which he/she may be drawn to for learning. Knowing what medium the student would like to explore prior to the class or workshop is best so we may focus on one thing at a time is also helpful.

    1. Graduate on Maryland Institute College of Art.  B.F.A. in Fine Art.

    2. Towson University; Certification in art education k-12

    3. Ongoing exerimenting through different mediums to broaden my own personal learning.

Minimum 3 hours in studio session.

    Once a week-$150, twice a week $250

Day Field trips, supplies, and live models fee's TBD which would be discussed and planned via a phone conversation.

All classes or workshops paid in advance.

After I grauduared from MICA with my Fine Arts degree, I took a short time off before going back to school for art education certification. The education behind teaching has been invaluable in applying it to daily non art related tasks with a process.  I was and am able to take what I learned and incorporate it into daily living. It helps keeps me organized and on task for maximal productivity and results.

What I have found, especailly with art, that taking a break and not hurrying to finish, helps to recharge the mind resulting in a better artful outcome from intuitive creativity rather than a forced meaningless finish.
