About
**PLEASE NOTE: Right now, ALL classes are online and my availability for in person meet-up for photography classes will not re-open until next year. Classes are currently being taught via Discord**
I offer a variety of different classes! I love learning new things and I really enjoy helping others learn creative skills. I'm a very low pressure instructor and I want you to feel a lot less overwhelmed and a lot more inspired by your own potential! There's nothing quite like the empowerment you feel when making something with your own 2 hands.
I love photography and being creative, and I'm always teaching and learning. I have over 10 years of experience with photography; I did an independent study for 2 years in highschool, later majoring in photography in college. I've taught one on one classes over the years and I really enjoy connecting with new people and sharing my passion for photography. I have worked in both color and B&W wet darkrooms as well as with digital mediums. My main editing tool is Lightroom. I also have a backdrop kit and backdrops, off camera flashes, and reflectors, umbrellas, and other lighting equipment. With teaching, I like to start with understanding the basics of f-stop and shutter speed as well as light and composition which are the stepping stones in traditional black and white photography. But, I also want to know what you want to accomplish with photography! I like when photography is more of a cooperative effort and less of me telling people what to do and I use this same technique when teaching the subject.
I also teach classes in Pottery, Sewing, and Bookbinding. Both in college and out, I took a lot of these subjects on the sides and have gotten to learn a lot about each of them! Right now, my main business is making and selling pottery, journals, and a lot of different fiber art items and I have my own home studio with a kiln, pottery wheel and other tools, and a few sewing machines. For my craft offerings, we can do a very basic class where I can guide you through the techniques of these subjects or we can personalize the class to fit a specific project you have in mind.
We'll work together based on what YOU want to learn, and I always want my students to feel like they're getting the most out of our classes. While I do offer specific projects for certain, my style is more so about letting you create what YOU want to create while I'm there to give you the tools, suggestions, and know-how for how to proceed.
