Clarinet And Flute Lessons
About
Hi all!
My name is Lex and I'm a band and orchestra teacher with MCPS. I have played clarinet and flute for almost 16 years and have a lot of knowledge to share!
I would be glad to work with a beginner or challenge the skills of an intermediate musician. I am also happy to work on theory and notation reading skills.
If you are looking for an enthusiastic and patient teacher, look no further!
You may contact me about lesson availability and quotes at [email protected]!
I enjoy the "lightbulb" moment the most. Those times when my students really get a topic and all their learning suddenly comes together and they are really excited about they what they know.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start by assessing what my new students know. Usually, I ask about their background with music and their instrument. Or I ask them to play a piece with me (an easy duet) and ask them questions about the piece.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Currently, I am a band and orchestra teacher with Montgomery County Schools. I been a volunteer teaching artist with the BSO's Orchkids program and worked as a sectional coach at Windsor Mill Middle School.
I have a BA in Instrumental Music Education from UMBC and will receive a Master's in Education from Capella University in September 2020.
