About

Here’s the updated version with the new focus on your instruction approach:

I have over 30 years of experience teaching the mechanics, techniques, and mental approach to proper pitching. Currently, I coach multiple teams, including a high school legion team. Additionally, I:

1. Operate summer sports and academic programs throughout Maryland and nationwide.

2. Collaborate closely with former Major League Baseball player and current Mental Strength Coach, Brandon Guyer (www.brandonguyer.com).

3. Provide consulting services for Showball Baseball.

4. Own and operate College Recruiting Experts, helping high school baseball players navigate the college recruiting journey.

My Background

I’ve been fortunate to work with tens of thousands of youth and high school baseball players throughout my career. Some highlights of my experience include:

• Serving as the provider of the official youth baseball camps for major MLB teams, including the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Washington Nationals, Chicago Cubs, and Atlanta Braves.

• Playing and coaching at Amherst College, where I earned MVP honors as a two-year captain. Also, played college football.

• Working in Major League Baseball as a scout in the Front Offices of the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians organizations.

• Serving as the Chief Strategy Officer and being on the Board of Showball Baseball, the nation’s top showcase camp and platform for helping high school student-athletes gain exposure to college coaches.

• Hosting the podcast “Who Are You: The Life Lessons of Sports” (available on iTunes/Podcasts App or any other podcast platform).

My Approach

When working with any youth player, my number one goal is to:

a) Build a strong, trustworthy relationship.

b) Develop proper mechanics, strong muscle memory, a positive and clear mind, and most importantly, a healthy body (particularly the arm in baseball).

c) Ensure the player is enjoying themselves and becomes a student of the game because they love to play and learn.

d) Challenge players to utilize their abilities in a way that ensures they are improving every day, every practice, every week, and every season.

My Instruction Focus

My primary focus when instructing kids and teenagers is multi-layered:

1. Be a mentor, positive motivator, and confidence builder.

2. Celebrate effort over results—because effort is always necessary before we can measure results.

3. Teach what players can teach others and themselves—I never try to teach something a player isn’t ready to learn. I believe in the principle of “stay within yourself” at all times.

4. Ultimate goal: After each lesson, I want the player to recall exactly what we worked on, build self-esteem, boost confidence, and feel motivated to compete in a stress-free, enjoyable manner—measuring their performance by effort and not expectations.

    Frequently asked questions

Every athlete is different. This all needs to be discussed to effectively understand  both the mental and physical abilities of the student-athlete.

Beyond mechanics, I work with players to establish self-esteem, confidence, and pride for the work and effort they put forth when working with me.

It depends on a variety of variables. This is to be discussed.

I played 4 years of college baseball and college football.

I Worked in MLB with the Red Sox and Indians (now Guardians).

I have coached at the College, High School and Travel Ball levels.

I have coached tens of thousands of ballplayers ages 5 to 18 for over 30 years.

    Every level. Every Ability.

I LOVE working with players who have a positive attitude and who are dedicated to learning and putting in the time to improve, both on and off the field.

Winning 5 out of 6 baseball tournaments last summer. BUT, not because we won them. To the contrary, I was motivated, impressed and proud of how our team worked to together to overcome obstacles along the way, during each and every tournament. I was even more proud about the fact that all of our players focused on the "What's Important Now" and "Win or Learn" philosophies, which will benefit them long after baseball tournaments are over. To me, trophies solely represent dedication, teamwork and the willingness to put the team ahead of your own accomplishments. When you control the controllables and focus on the team ahead of yourself, the mental and internal scoreboard will ALWAYS show a WIN!

Make sure the teacher is focused on the effort and mechanics more than the results. The results are a byproduct of focus, dedication, proper mechnics, and a great mindset and approach.

All athletes should ask the coach two questions:

    1. What is your philosophy on teaching (not coaching, but teaching) the game?

    2. How many of your players stay in touch with you after your coaching relationship ends?
