About
My love and passion for theatre and arts began while attending elementary school. I would love the opportunity to inspire new students with the same passion and appreciation I have in the arts. My goal is to provide a stimulating learning environment that fosters self-esteem, motivation, aesthetic awareness and creativity.
Students deserve a complete and competitive education that will prepare them for their future. The arts provide students the necessary key components that will help improve their learning throughout all academic areas. It helps make learning matter to students by giving them a medium to connect new knowledge, to personal experiences, and gives them the creativity to express what they have learned.
The theatre prepared me to earn my B.A. in Theatre Technology and Design from DeSales University and my Masters of Fine Arts from West Virginia University in Scenic Design and Technology. While at WVU, I had the opportunity to be a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Stagecraft lecture and lab, as well as an assistant to the professor for the Scenic Painting class. These roles were my gateway into teaching and have shown me that I derive great joy through teaching in the arts.
Since then, I have greatly improved my proficiency in teaching as a K-8th grade Art Teacher and the Resident Scenic Designer with Ovations Theatre, an educational theatre company. My scenic design experience at Ovations Theatre has specifically prepared me for the position with your college. For over a dozen Ovations Theatre productions, I have taught students skills ranging from set design, construction, loading, striking, safety, and time management. I’ve also had the privilege of overseeing Ovations’ new technical theatre internship program, which provides students with more 1-on-1 instruction. Through all my instructional time with students, I bring my 14 years of experiences as a freelance set designer, which has been spotlighted in Metro Weekly magazine March 2020 for Head Over Heels with Monumental Theatre Company and nominations for Best Scenic Design from Broadwayworld.com 2017 Regional Awards.
