About this pro

We work with amateur athletes to improve their baseball skills through film and 1-on1 coaching. Serving as a key resource in athletes’ physical and mental development of baseball to assist in reaching their goals. Working to improve the lives of athletes throughout the state of Maryland.

I am Dondre Yon a Montgomery County, Maryland native. I started playing baseball at 5 years old. Growing up I played multiple positions as most young ball players do, before focusing on middle infield and pitching in high school. In high school I played 3yrs on varsity and served as team captain as a senior for Clarksburg High School. During the summer I played American Legion Baseball for Damascus Post 171’s 17U Junior team as a Freshman. Starting my Sophomore year, I moved up to Senior Legion 19U. Through hard work, I was able to cultivate my physical talent as a player to receive offers to play Division II and III to continue playing post high school. However, it was always a lifelong dream to play at a Division I school. I am proud to say I achieved that dream by walking on to Florida A&M University baseball team. After a red shirt year, I decided it was time to move on as a player but I never stopped loving the game. Now the mission has evolved to pass along my love of the game to the next generation through coaching. Teaching the finer details of the game along with the mindset and mentality it takes to reach the next level. Seeing young players develop and understand the game fuels me. The goal is to advance player knowledge, improve skill and increase confidence.

How did you get started teaching?

I went to some recreational game in the community struggling to develop aspects of thier game. The player was thinking about quitting becuase he was not improving. I reached out to the parent because I did not want to see the young man give up on the game just because of a dry spell.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with players as young as 8U and up to 14U. I do my best to meet each player where they are at regarudless of age to help advance them.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Find a coach you can connect with and relate to. Every coach is not for every player.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
