Black Arrow Workshop is the professional studio of AnnaMaria Jackson-Phelps. Specializing in Acrylic painting her artwork has hung in many places including St. Louis, Washington DC, and Belgium. AMJP has also taught watercolor, acrylic, and drawing for many years to adults and children.
Art is my passion, and I love sharing the ability to express oneself throught paint and drawing with others.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Initally I like to find out what goals the student has for themselves, whether its mastery or just the ability to recreate a picture they love. Then we work together to find their skill level.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Private painting lessons are typically $30 an hour. I also offer a 'paint and chat' group class at $20 a person for two hours.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from primary school aged to seniors. Additionally I have worked with non-neurotypical students. I teach a regular technique class once a week for teens as well as an acrylic painting class for adults.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I've been teaching a group class to a bunch of dynamic teens this summer. They're enthusiastic as well as creative, which makes the class extra fun for ALL of us!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
In particular, ask about what techniques you'll be learning, particularly if you want long term instruction. Additionally, its good to know who will be providing materials for each class!
