About
Custom, individual service. A full-time art teacher by day, independent illustrator, multimedia artist, puppet maker, and sculptor, the other 24/7. I love sharing my artistic interests and teaching students. I can offer skills and techniques to introduce or further your creative talents in drawing, painting, or sculpture, whether it’s realistic or abstract. I develop a custom creative plan with each of my students. We set goals and track our progress together.
I enjoy the spontaneity and experimentation of the creative arts. I love helping students find their own undiscovered talents. However, I believe the best things in life require hard work, and some of my best moments of teaching were the "aha" moments when my students and I learned something together. Therefore, I favor the process over the product teaching method. Let's skill build and grow confidence as we learn.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to meet and discuss their goals. What areas do they want to work on? After getting a sense of what they want to do, we dig in and start creating. I believe in skill-building, acquiring the technical overview of each media. Then, immersing fully into their media of choice and having fun.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a Visual Arts teacher for over 30 years. Mostly, working with middle school-age students, but I have mentored many high school students as they pull their art portfolios together for graduation. I have also worked with elementary and pre-school-age children. In addition, I have taught many family group workshops along with several adult art students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing is $60.00 to $75.00 per hour. It depends on location and if I am supplying the materials.
How did you get started teaching?
I began as a teenager, working at a day camp near my house. They decided to add an arts and crafts workshop and needed a teacher. I volunteered.
What types of students have you worked with?
I would like to have anyone interested in improving their artistic skills. Drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, etc... I have worked with elementary, middle and high school age students. I have also taught some college and adult students in some workshops.
Maybe you need help with a school project? Or do you need help starting a bedroom mural?
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I participate in local craft shows. I enjoy meeting new people and sharing my creations.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Think about your goals? Is there a specific media you are interested in? I have experience with most media and love to experiment with pastel, pencil, painting, sculpture and puppet making. Ask lots of questions of your instructor. Make sure they are willing to work at your speed and help you mentor your craft.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do I want? Which skills need further instruction? Can my teacher advance my talents and keep me interested? Do I feel challenged?
