Payton Fine Art
About
Hi, I’m Payton James, a professional artist and educator based in Southeast Michigan. My artistic practice centers on abstract landscapes and liminal spaces, but as a teacher, my focus is on helping each student find their own creative voice.
Working with me is a balance of structure and freedom—I provide guidance, demonstrations, and techniques while also encouraging exploration, play, and personal expression. Whether you’re a beginner or a more experienced artist, I meet you where you are and help you grow at your own pace.
My goal is to create a supportive, inspiring environment where you feel confident experimenting, asking questions, and developing your skills. With years of experience teaching students of all ages, I know how to break things down in an approachable way while also pushing you to think deeper about your work.
Art is more than technique—it’s about connection, reflection, and joy. That’s why I’m passionate about teaching, and why I know I’ll do an excellent job helping you expand both your skills and your confidence as an artist.
