Articipate
About
Articipate is happy to welcome everyone into the space to make art. We especially like to serve as an introduction to art adventures; new materials and skills for beginners. But we also love having dedicated professional teachers here to continue to challenge us at an affordable cost.

Art is an adventure. You never know what is going to happen. It's also a lesson in getting out of your comfort zone and staying focused and learning to relax. I admire artists!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Listen to their desires and linking them to our classes. If they want a private lesson, we will schedule them. But group classes are the best; meet some other budding artists...then you'll have a new friend to go to galleries with!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an AA degree in art, and a lifetime of creating art. My career was in social work. Every artist knows the value of self expression. It's therapeutic!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Private lessons are $30 per hour. Group classes vary according to the price of materials.
How did you get started teaching?
Doing art and teaching art are 2 different animals! The key to being a good teacher is to encourage experimentation over technique; creativity over product.
What types of students have you worked with?
Youngsters, seniors, skilled adults and challenged people. We all start at the same place; on the brink of creation where things are a bit scary! Artists have courage.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a friendly teacher whose company you enjoy. This is not rocket science.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
If they have an idea of the type of media they want to use, start there. If they have no idea, take our intro class. 5 weeks: acrylic, oil, watercolor painting and 2 drawing sessions.
