Pierre F. says, "She teaches two of my children. My daughter is ten years old and started working with Mrs. G at the age of six years old. My daughter’s feet couldn’t even touch the floor. I homeschool my children, so Mrs. G is my daughter’s first teacher outside of our family.
Mrs. G worked with my daughter on her level. She would use props, like a toy spider, to emphasis the way you should hold your fingers. Being six, my daughter would talk to her about Roblox and her favorite YouTuber, and Mrs. G would tactfully guide the conversation back to the music without making my daughter feel like she wasn’t heard or her interest wasn’t important. Some songs would have words that you could sing along as you played the piano, and Mrs. G’s voice would captivate my daughter to the point her eyes would get that sparkle and she would smile from ear to ear.
I attended every class with her along with my son, who was 4 years old at the time my daughter started. We would sit and listen to my daughter and Mrs. G play and discuss musical theory. Sometimes he would get a little antsy, and Mrs.G would slide him some crayons and paper, a where’s Waldo book, and at times even an etch a sketch (that would bring back childhood memories for me).
Eventually, after a few years, my son developed an ear for music and wanted to learn how to play the piano. So, Mrs. G would allow him to actually participate in some of the music related games she and my daughter would do. He got so into the music, that one day he told me that he wanted to start taking lessons and he didn’t think it was fair that his sister gets to have all the fun! He would watch his sister practice the piano at home and sit by her asking question which annoyed her to death. So my wife and I figured it was time to give the birdie his wings and signed him up. Mrs. G picked a convenient time for us where they both could get lessons back to back. He started classes at the age of seven and his progression has been astonishing.
Their musical ability has progressed at a great and steady pace. My daughter has played in four recitals my son has played in one. My daughter is ten years old now and has been working with Mrs. G for four years now and my son has recently started and is a little past the half year mark. They enjoy and look forward to seeing Mrs. G every week and can’t wait to show her how hard they have practiced. Even I have learned a lot about music and Mrs.G doesn’t mind me asking her questions, because I want to be able to help my children with their assignments. I would recommend her to anybody who wants to take music seriously or even for those that just want to see if they would like to take it seriously. She breaks down music to an understandable level and her methods of teaching are fun and enjoyable. She has been teaching my children for four years now and I look forward to the next four." Read more
