Hi, I am Blaise Woods, the new owner of The Baseball Lab. I am passionate about helping and training young players! There is nothing better for me than to see improvement from my students one week to the next.
I am a local Detroiter all about baseball. I was drafted by the Phillies in '07 and graduated from Cass Tech in '08. I played professionally and I am the current assistant coach for Groves High School. I have been training players and coaching teams over the past 5 years, specifically 17/18U and reached the final four the last 2 years at Perfect Game Tournament in Florida. I have also trained and coached 11U-16U that played in the following tournaments:
Black Swamp, Cincy Flames, Perfect Game (FL & GA) and Grand National Park.
Coach Ted Mahan, played for University of Michigan in the late 70's and was co-MVP with Rick Leach in '77. Ted went on to be head coach at MSU (96-05) and Olivet (07-16) along with taking Davison HS to a 127–56 record (83-87).

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We always like to find out what the student wants first. We do this through simply talking and having a fun time with our students. We then do basic assessments and determine what is next.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Blaise is a local Detroiter being drafted by the Phillies in 2007 and graduating Cass Tech in 2008. He played professionally and been developing athletes for the past 6 years.
Blaise is the current varsity assistant coach at Groves High School and has trained/coached at the Precision Patriots Baseball Club for the last 5 yrs specifically 17/18U. They have reached the final four the last 2 years at PG-(Perfect Game Tournament) in Florida
He has also coached trained coached other teams from 11U - 16U that have played in the following tournaments:
