Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I talk with them about their past riding to figure out what they have done, if they are new to riding all together I first teach them the basics about grooming, horse care, clothing and equipment and tack. Then I help them groom and tack the horse and have them learn how to lead a horse and then have them get on while walking beside them. If they are experienced I will let them groom and tack the horse and have them get on just to see exactly what they know and we grow from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
i have taken therapeutic riding courses, helped out with the friendship circle as well as few other organizations. I have been receiving lessons from my eventing coaches for over 10 years, and continuing to strive to always learn as much as I can to pass my experiences to others.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
You can pay as you go with lessons, or we offer books of lessons for purchase and you receive 1 additional lesson for free.
we do have set prices, but we are very reasonable and will work with you if needed on an individual basis.
please contact us for more details.
How did you get started teaching?
I really got started when I was younger volunteering all of the time for organizations. However, one of my friends asked if I could teach her little girl and then it just blossomed from there.
What types of students have you worked with?
I teach all types of students from children with special needs to young children all the way up to teenagers. If you have a passion to learn I would love to teach you!!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
i just took one of my horses to a confidence clinic where we both learned to trust each other, knowing that neither of us would put the other in danger. I’m always amazed and impressed by just how much horses teach you each and everyday.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would ask them questions about their riding career past history, what he/she can offer you. What can I expect if I hire you as my trainer, how can you help me achieve those goals, etc...
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should think about how much time and effort they are willing to put into riding, what makes riding fun for you, do I have enough time (riding is a big commitment, some learn faster than others) so you need to be willing and understand things might take some time. It takes time to build a relationship with the horse, and takes time for the horse to trust you.
