Merv’s Sports
About
I began my life as a lover of sports. I've played several sports, but my main expertise is in Basketball, Baseball, and Football. I've played Basketball since I was 3 years old, Baseball since i was 4, and Football since I was 8. I have 2 years of formal Basketball coaching, 2 years of coaching high school Baseball, no formal coaching experience in Football but have the experience to be able to coach on any aspect that kids want to improve on in all 3 of the sports listed above.
Seeing kids improve and become more confident in the sport they enjoy is always held in highest regard to me. Seeing progress is easy for a coach, but the reward is seeing the kids become better and see how it affects how they experience the sport. Helping kids meet their goals for the sport is what keeps all coaches motivated, including myself.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would start by meeting with the athlete. Talk for a bit, ask some questions to determine what the athlete's goals are. All solo sessions will be individually designed specifically for that athlete. Group sessions will be more generalized into different categories.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have playing experience in basketball, baseball, football, and coaching experience in basketball and baseball. I have spent time coaching kids as young as 4 years old, to as old as 17-18 years old. I have also worked with special needs individuals as well, through a company call No More Sidelines.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I typically do not have standard pricing. Pricing varies between quantity of sessions and how detailed the plan is.
How did you get started teaching?
I had coached in sports up until 2020, and it made me realize not only how much i missed how easily it was to play before, but also how much I missed working with people trying to get better at something. I got more involved with helping my younger brother get better, I thought there might be more people who would be interested in having someone work with their athlete to get better.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with athletes from as young as 4, to as old as seniors in high school.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Playing golf on Father's day with my dad and brother.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Meet with them before your session and make sure you're getting your money's worth. There are so many fake coaches who don't actually communicate or use copy and paste plans and sell them as their personalized plan.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you able to receive constructive criticism? Praise will always be given, but how well can you receive negativity?
Are you committed to putting the work in?
