A background in science and the arts provides a unique merger of technology and artistry. My doctoral education and a Teaching Fellowship allows simplification of the complex in both theory and practice.
Starting as a child, my photographic experience is not only extensive but also varied. The various genres have included portraits, sports, nature, landscapes, weddings and events, medical, night, special technique, photojournalism, forensic, commercial, lifestyle, street, travel, architecture, catalog, concerts, fine art, composite and both micro and macro photography. My work has been published around the world in journals, newspapers and personal albums, websites and social media sites and even presented in courtrooms. I was also privileged to be the principal photographer for events at the White House, the Knesset in Jerusalem and community and organizational events across the country.
Photography goes beyond capturing a moment. It is a unique view of life, a perspective of the environment or the personality of an individual. My particular background in fine arts, healthcare, and graphic design helps define my impressions and the images that I capture. My vision of the world and my creative passions are united.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically the students level of knowledge is assessed and goals are defined. Essentially, the curriculum is refined for and emphasizes the particular needs of the client and the potential of their equipment. This ranges from technique and composition to development of personal style.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The extensive academic study involved in attaining my doctorate was an obvious benefit as a teacher. A Teaching Fellowship and a grant in medical photography were also contributory in my development. Inherent in my background was the emphasis on technique in imaging, photographically, radiographically and computer-aided imaging.
Of particular emphasis were my years of art classes that included the basic artistic essentials of design and composition and work with a variety of media.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Due to the variety of venues and structures, it is difficult to have a standard pricing system. Workshops, group, and individual classes vary in location and duration. Locally, free critiques and an occasional group photowalk are often available.
How did you get started teaching?
My photography stimulated requests to learn my approach to photography.
What types of students have you worked with?
Students that I've worked with have been children as young as ten to seniors and retirees. Included are corporate executives, professional photographers, college students, residents and interns in healthcare, and those in almost any walk of life.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
During the recent holidays, I photographed a week-long convention in New Orleans for an international organization. This covered casual and black-tie dinners, tours, business meetings, continuous education presentations, a musical review, headshot portraits, and even a New Orleans style parade through the streets of New Orleans. I have been doing this for the last ten years in cities around the world.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try to evaluate your particular needs, identify problems or concerns and anticipate photographic goals.
