About

I've been teaching guitar and bass lessons in the Detroit area since 1992. I can teach all styles from country to grind core metal. I work mainly out of Music Maker Studios in Shelby Twp.

I've been fortunate enough to have studies jazz with Scott Peterson and classical guitar with Lee Dymant while in collage along with several music theory and piano classes. I also played in top tier marching bands and concert band all through my jr high and high school years.

I've of course played in many local bands over the years (mostly hard rock) until I was about 30 then started playing daytime/morning sports more than night time music gigs.

I've always loved music and I get just as much joy sharing it as I do playing it. It allows me to do what I love to do at a job that I love doing. It really is a dream job and I'm very thankful and fortunate that I've been so lucky to have this for my career.

It has been a complete pleasure learning guitar from Jeff Bauman. I remember feeling very nervous when first taking lessons. Jeff was very kind and friendly and he immediately put me at ease. Jeff is very knowledgeable and experienced. His teaching style is laid back and he shows great patience, while settting and helping me achieve required expectations. I appreciate his support in the setting and the achievement of stretch goals. Thank you Jeff for being there for me and being my mentor. You have made learning the guitar a fantastic experience. Its awesome to have a teacher who makes learning fun and can keep me motivated!

    Frequently asked questions

My process depends on each individual student of course. First I ask what they would like to do. A lot of times they have no idea so I just start with the basics. How to read chord charts, music and or tab, how to fret chords, how to strum and arpeggiate. Also show them websites and videos that I use to practice and jam with.

I played in marching band and concert band all throughout jr high and high school.

Studied music theory, jazz, classical guitar, piano and music composition in collage.

Ive played in countless gigs (mostly in rock bands) since I was 15.

In 1993 I was hired as a guitar teacher at Music Box Studios in Shelby Twp Mi when I was 22 years olds

    Generally $25 per 1/2 hr.

I started teaching in my house to my friends and people who kept asking me if I could teach them. Then in 1993 I went to the local music store and asked for a job. Played a quick audition for the owner Mitch and he hired me!

All ages fro 6 to 88 years old and every style you can think of.

My 10 year old son finally decided to play the guitar!!!!!!

Don't be afraid to try a new teacher.

How much energy you are willing to put into your training.
