I teach on Sundays only, and only virtually. This is not ideal for the youngest beginners, but it will work if you, the parent, are willing to sit with them during the lessons and continue the practice strategies every day at home.

I have a degree in Music Education K-12 from a 4-year university. I majored in piano and flute. Over the years I have also picked up a number of other instruments, as many pianists do. When I perform in the community, I play piano and ukulele, plus I sing. You'd be surprised at what musical whims I can help you entertain!

I use a 2-pronged approach with my instruction: Literacy & Grooves. Literacy, because reading music from the staff is crucial to establishing a good foundation for musical endeavors. Grooves, because most of us ultimately want to groove on the piano - play by ear or learn to play songs we already know and love. Using multiple approaches to musical play really helps maximize a student's understanding and abilities!

I teach any student age 5 & up - including adults! The only requirement is that the student practices most days. I can teach you how to learn music, but it is up to the student/family to manage the discipline of daily practice.

Outside of musical experience, I spent 10 years working in a summer camp for elementary kids, plus 5 years as a preschool teacher. This can be a great parent & child bonding activity!
