Coach Claramunt has been involved with the game of basketball for over 30 years.
As a player through high school and one year of college, Coach Claramunt developed a love for the game and became more than just a player. He became a student.
After an ankle injury cut short a college basketball career, Coach Claramunt stayed involved in the game but took a different route. He became a certified basketball official. He started working youth basketball games and finished his career working as high as NCAA D-3 and NJCAA men’s basketball.
Again, a more serious ankle injury had Coach Claramunt take another turn in the basketball world. It was then that he started his adventure as a coach. His very first coaching job was the Junior Varsity Girls and Freshman Boys teams at the high school he graduated from and played for, Birmingham Groves. After three seasons at Groves, He then spent 2 seasons coaching at Coronado High School in Henderson Nevada. He then came back home to Troy Athens High School and became the Varsity Assistant for the Boy’s basketball team.
After 3 years at Troy Athens and a District Championship, Coach Claramunt was finally able to live his dream. He became Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Schoolcraft College. After one season at Schoolcraft, Coach Claramunt has returned to Troy Athens as an assistant.
He loves teaching the game to kids of all ages and works many different camps and clinics, as well as offering individual skill development.
Coach Claramunt has a B.S. in Business Management and is a
“USA Basketball Youth Development Certified Coach”
He is happily married and is the father to 3 children.
