About
With 25+ years of work in photography, I have photographed pretty much everything at one time or another. My work, just as my interests are diverse. These days my portfolio centers on fashion design, architecture, and events. I have had work published in books and magazines and worked with national commercial brands and businesses. I have a studio in the north Minneapolis arts district. You can see a sampling of my work on my website at www.christierachelle.com.
I have mentored student photographers several times, as well as lead photographic events that bring learners and creators together to execute fun photography events to learn, create, and play. I welcome students of all skill levels, be it the goal to learn more about your equipment, working with models and managing shoots, or simply getting the best out of your images in post processing.
Every subject is different and there are no limits to the work. If you want to move genres, do it! You want to test out an idea? There is always someone willing to help you. Your work is only limited by your effort and imagination.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I spend time learning about the student's current skills and interests, then we explore where they want to be and lay a path to get there! I like hands on learning. So, I am not going to bore you with verbal lessons. Photography is a do activity, so we will spend time putting those skills to work right away for hands on training that helps with retention.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All training has been on the job. Aside from photography club in high school, I have not taken classes. However, over the course of my career I have managed multiple portrait studios, been published, awarded, and had opportunity to do everything I ever had on a photography wish list.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
It will vary by student and time commitment. For simply a single lesson of discussion/training, plan for a fee around $50/hr. If you are looking for a series of hands on photography opportunities, we can arrange photoshoot opportunities that reduce that per hour cost to as little as $20/hr.
How did you get started teaching?
Collaboration! Photography presents continued learning for myself, as well as those I work with. I spent time collaborating with other photographers to explore concepts and ideas and from there, I began mentoring up and coming photographers to sought to expand their portfolio or strengthen their skills.
