Whitehead’s Basketball Lessons
About
My name is Jimmy whitehead and I've been around the game as long as I could walk. Basketball is something that has changed my life and has connected me with people that have helped me become successful. I was fortunate be apart of and win a state championship title in 2008, in the state of Wisconsin. Following hs I attended and played for Minnesota State Mankato. There I was fortunate to be apart of the 2011 team holds the best full season record, including a final four appearance.
Through my experience of playing at a high level I've learned so much. My dream has alway been share and teach those same things that made me the player that I was. The end goal is to make you a better player than I was. I've started my journey of progressing players basketball abilities by coaching the sophomore team at Roseville Area high school. Now im ready to take coaching to the individual level!
I will never ask you to do the impossible, but I will promise to push you to become the best basketball player you can possibly be!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will always start with a skills Assessment the very first time we work out. This will help me see where the players skill level is. From there I can determine the level of difficulty the sessions will be. As a player progresses the level of difficulty will increase.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have done multiple training sessions in the past through the ymca and the university of Minnesota state Mankato.
I am also a current basketball coach at Roseville Area High School where we practice 6 days a week during the season.
During the season my days revolve around basketball and I am always researching drills and ways to make my players better.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching at the age of 15 under Richie Johnson, a former NBA and CBA player. He was also my youth basketball coach for many years.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types. Anywhere from age 3 to college players.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do your research before committing. Talk to your coach and get a feel for who they are. Also knowing their experience with the game may help you decide if their the right fit for you.
