About
I had a photography and Photoshop mentor in Paris when I was 18 years old. I made it in the photography world thanks to his guidance. He passed away recently, and all I want now is to give others the same chance I had.
I learned photography in France at EFET PARIS. I have been in the photography business for +16 years.
The reason why I started teaching photography is because I genuinely love to share what I know with people and I am very patient. I support you from beginning to end. I never give up on the road to success.
My passion is to help students and families with reaching their learning goals by delivering highly personalized training. Either for photography or image editing I provide award winning tools and my +16 years of expertise for our lessons.
I enjoy working with people. I love events, portraits, family, and nature photography. I do commercial and business photography too. Some of my clients include Porsche Minneapolis, Medal of Honor Convention Twin Cities, Women's Health Leadership Trust Forum, Uptown VFW, Nology Networks, Cascade Stone, Connect to Buy, Ambassadors for Business Northland, Renault, Rothschild, Cosmétique Magazine, le Cirque Pinder, Paris City Town Hall, Gold River Studios of Minneapolis, Salon SIEL de Paris, and L’Américain (as well as many other French short films).

How did you get started teaching?
I had a photography mentor in Paris, France, when I was 18 years old. Without him I would not have been able to make it. He recently passed away, age 55. So now it is my turn to give back to the community and help you to achieve your goals.
My first time teaching was because I was participating in an exhibition in Paris region and the local school asked for me to give a photography initiation to the kids from 3 different grades. It was fun and since then people asked me more often.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have been working with students from France and the USA. Children, Teenagers, and Adults. Everyone is different. I am a good observer and I have genuine compassion and patience. Whatever your level I can help. I have also worked with groups and families as a workshop teacher.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Leila left me a hilarious review recently on takelessons.com: "Trying to learn Adobe Photoshop on my own almost pushed me to become alcoholic! Since I have started classes with Jonathan I finally understand the process. Jonathan is patient, very knowledgeable and happy person. He transform Adobe Photoshop in a fun activity and that is a miracle!Bravo"
Leila owns a dog resort business in the state of New York with her son Sylvain. She also leads a nonprofit organization for dogs in Ecuador.
She struggled with photoshop and was very upset before she met me and we started our classes!
Now Leila knows how to use many Photoshop tools. She knows how to edit, retouch, replace, move, select, transform, blur, sharpen, create, insert logos, and combine several pictures together!
With Leila we are now completing 10 lessons of Adobe photoshop online! Being online could be challenging, but we make it work with the help of technology: screen sharing software + video + voice through online classroom like EZtalks or Skype or Facebook call if necessary.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Follow your heart and passion. Be wise and patient to find the best fit for you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your goals? Why do you want to study photography or image editing? Make a list of goals, and how you want to achieve them. Whatever your level, improvement is ALWAYS possible.
