Roma Duncan - Flute Lessons
About
I have been teaching flute and piccolo students almost as long as I have been playing, and I offer private lessons in Edina. I enjoy working with every level of flutist, from beginners to middle and high school students to professionals. I am the flute professor at Macalester University in St. Paul, and was previously on faculty at Oakland University in Michigan. I have presented masterclasses at various universities, including the University of MN, Luther College, and Indiana University. I believe every new student presents an opportunity to approach music from a different perspective , and to formulate a personal approach suited to that individual’s needs and goals. My hourly rate is $120.
I have been the Principal Piccolo in the Minnesota Orchestra since 2003, and performed concertos with the orchestra on multiple occasions. I have also been a soloist with ensembles including the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Minnesota Bach Ensemble, and the Lakes Area Music Festival Orchestra. I have played in the sections of many orchestras across the country, including the Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic, St. Louis Symphony, and Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
