Steve Strand has been performing and teaching, professionally as a jobbing, touring and studio trumpet player since 1978 and is a member of the internationally renowned a capella jazz funk horn section, Hornheads.
Steve has performed and toured with artists such as Prince, Cory Wong, Vulfpeck, Doc Severinsen Big Band, Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion, Frankie Valli, B J Thomas, Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks, The Temptations as well as many others.
Pit orchestras such as the Ordway Theater, Orpeum Theater, State Theater and Carlton Celebrity Room. Also performances with the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Pops Orchestra, Minnesota Sinfonia and Lorie Line's Pop Chamber Orchestra. Steve has also had appearances on MTV, MTV Europe and The Arsenio Hall Show.
His recordings include Prince, Hornheads, Cory Wong, Mandy Moore, The Jonas Brothers, Chaka Kahn, Larry Graham (Sly and the Family Stone), as well as TV and radio commercials such as BMW, Cadillac, Holiday Inn Express, Target, CNN, ESPN themes, Skippy Peanut Butter, Minnesota Wild and Atlanta Thrashers themes and many others.
I love teaching and work with students to achieve their goals in music and on trumpet as well as show how the principles and techniques apply to life. Subjects include trumpet technique, upper register development, finger technique, tonguing and styles include Jazz, Pop, Funk and Classical.

I do a monthly tuition of $80 for 4 werk months and $100 for 5 week months. Depending on adapting schedule the rate breaks down to $20 per half hour time slot.

I was contacted by students seeking lessons when I was in college and never looked back

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Performing with my friends and fellow Prince alumni at a tribute concert that involved being able to perform with Stevie Wonder at the Xcel Energy Center.
