Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First of all, I always like to hear specific reasons for my student to start taking guitar lessons and the amount of time that they can put into practice every week. My next question usually relates to the specific bands, artists, songs and musical styles that they would like to learn or create. After the answers are establish, I usually come up with a specific plan for their lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am professionally trained musician and I am very close to completing my doctoral degree in guitar performance at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.
Besides that, I received personal lessons from world leading guitarists such as Sharon Isbin (USA), Manuel Barrueco (USA/Cuba), Sergio Assad (Brasil), Raphaella Smiths (Belgium), Hubert Kappel (Germany), Pavel Steidl (Czech Republic), Zoran Dukić (Croatia), Denis Azabagić (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Vladimir Gorgach (Russia), Iliana Matos (Cuba), Lily Afshar (Iran), Ede Roth (Hungary), Costas Cotsiolis (Greece), Gianpaolo Bandini (Italy), Dušan Bogdanović (Serbia), Anastasia Bardina (Russia), Joseph Urshamli (Israel).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
If you are coming to my place or teaching you online, I offer 30-minute ($30), 45-minute ($40), or 60-minute lessons ($50). If I am coming to your place, I offer only 60-minute lessons, and I never charge extra for travel fees.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been playing guitar from the age of 8. My passion for teaching started early on while I was helping my friends and family members to get better in their guitar playing. Later on during my college years, I started teaching in various schools and I am still enjoying doing it.
What types of students have you worked with?
I worked with all kinds of students. From kids aged 7 and above, retired seniors who wanted to keep themselves musically active, to students who aimed for professional success in music whom I guided to win prizes at international guitar competitions.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice is that customers should come up with specific ideas about the styles of music they would like to play or create and about specific reasons for them to start taking guitar lessons. In the next step a teacher should provide a customer with specific ideas focusing on how their musical relationship will look like according to the expectations of both sides.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
First of all, they should think why guitar lessons are important for them and how much time they will actually be able to put into practicing. The second set of questions will relate to specific bands, artists, and musical styles that they would like to play, or kinds of music that they would like to create by themselves. Once these answers are established, both sides can start enjoying the process of making music together.
