What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to see past work and what type of art excites them. We start working right away, so that I can get a sense of thier skill level and approach to a composition.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a doctorate in historical painting methodologies. This means that I have both restored and replicated various compositions for almost three decades. My profession necessitates that I am highly skilled in a variety of artistic mediums and able to create drawings and paintings of various sizes, ranging from a 6" x 8" canvas to a 40' x 60' theatrical backdrop.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have two price tiers for children and adults. I charge $20 for a 30-minute children's lesson and $40 for a 60-minute children's lesson. Adult lessons are priced individually and depenedent on class size and specific art media, but typically range from $30- $45/hour. Private lessons at individuals homes are independently priced on location and schedule.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching at the University of Minnesota as a teaching assistant.
