Art was meant to be shared.
It is so interesting to me that one of the most individual things we have is our interpretation and expression of art...and the love of sharing with others. I simply have the opportunity and have made the opportunity to do more sharing and to help others do the same.

How did you get started teaching?
I love teaching.
The business of art is part of the art education at the Brushworks School...for those interested.
What types of students have you worked with?
The thread that runs through all of the students is a passion and a curiosity for their love of art.
They all share a love of art that drives them to finding knowledge, experience and an art community to share their passion with.
My adult students (ages 16 and beyond) vary including all areas and stages of life. Some wanting to build a portfolio to further their future. Some still working and/or retired with a love of art that has followed them forever. I have students with little to no art experience as well as students with advanced skills. All are looking for the knowledge of art and the discipline to complete their goals.
Young people enhancing their Fine Arts Degrees with mediums they did not explore or would like to explore. As well as older teens building their portfolios, seeking scholarships.
Professional artist on a search for enrichment.
Passionate people who have always felt art was a part of who they are and have the time/or making the time to make art a bigger part of their life.
I work with young tattoo artist who simple dream outside of the box and want more.
There are many different goals and differences. My goal is to support each of them and I love it that they all support each other.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Art needs the discipline of perseverance, patience, observation and love. Appreciating art is amazing and fulfilling. However you cannot become an artist by knowledge alone. You must know how it feels in your hands and throughout your senses. It comes from the discipline of art. It is one thing to have the knowledge, it is another to apply and practice the discipline of knowledge and it is another to give it away. They all go hand in hand.
