    Frequently asked questions

Intially I set up a meeting with students, either a virtual meeting or at a coffee shop to see what their interests are and find out how they hope to develop in art. I find out what medium they would like to learn or perfect and what their style is or what style would they like to explore.

2nd meeting - I give some background on the students chosen medium and style and have them create a simple piece that reflects it. I ask what they would like to paint with this style and have them choose a color palette. I then explain how to map an image or shapes out on the canvas like a blue print.

3rd meeting - I ask student what they would like to paint with this style and have them choose a color palette. Explain how to map an image or shapes out on the canvas like a blue print.

4th meeting - I assist the student with brush techniques and applying color to the canvas. I guide them with their medium and style and have them create a simple piece that reflects it.

I worked as a art instructor for the Young Rembrandts in 2007. It is an after school program and offers summer camps for the Minnesota Twin Cities school system. I taught portrait drawing and cartooning at Century College in the Continuing Education and Customized Training program in 2012. I started Promising Palette, the instructional art event division of Creative Spirit Art from 2012 - 2017. I was chosen as a Twin Cities artist to mentor a student and paint a design on a piano together that was placed in a public place through Key's 4 Kids in 2012.

I charge $40 per hour for my art lessons with the intial meeting at no charge.

I started with the Young Rembrandts program in St. Paul Minnesota in 2007.

I have taught age groups from 4 years old to age 90.

My most fond event was assisting a student a paint a Jazz theme on a piano Through Keys 4 Kids. We painted pianos with other matched artists and students at the Mall of America in Minnesota. and a few months later we were included to ride on a float with our piano in the Grand Ole Days Parade with Keys 4 Kids company.

Think about what area or areas of art you would like to learn about and how you want to apply that area to create art.
