What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I discuss their experiences with art and set a realistic approach for further development.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an extensive background and education in graphic design and fine art. I have been self-employed my entire career.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $35-50/hr. Art materials and discounts vary with art class and length of class or frequency.
How did you get started teaching?
I am a natural leader and began teaching at an early age. Asked to teach at an adult night school lead to other teaching assignments.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have mentored and taught my granddaughter since she was able to walk to the studio. I have taught teenagers to college level and post-graduates, internships at MCAD and classes at the Minnesota School of Business.
In addition, I teach art classes to St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud, MN since 2009.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently took my grandson to the Orlando Museum of Art and recorded the experience on my cell phone and rewarded with a life changing dialogue and unforgettable series of images.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask questions. Write things down. And see results of the teacher’s expertise. Check references. Make the calls. Be confident of your decision.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Their commitment level is critical.
Results of their efforts are derived from the passion and focus to learn.
Creating a dialogue is nessessary to get the most out of the classes.
