Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Training is typically tailored to the needs of each person. Many photographers are just trying to get over the hurdle of shooting on settings other than automatic. Others need technical assistance with various apps. And, finally, some people want help with composition or creating a narrative around their work.
Please note that I only tutor students who use Canon DSLR’s. I do not tutor students who use other brands of cameras. I also do not tutor students who use point and shoot cameras.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've attended numerous workshops throughout the USA and have had the privilege to mentor with some of North America's best photographers.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing can be on a per hour, per project, or per day basis depending on the photographer's needs. Pricing is generally based on a fee of $175/hour. However, this fee can be reduced depending on the number of hours.
How did you get started teaching?
I'm not sure when. I've always enjoyed sharing my skills.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with the full range of photographers from novice to emerging professional.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't bite off more than you can chew. Try to narrow the subject area that you want to learn about or use to improve your skills. I can help with that.
