About
Hola!!! I have over 35 years of experience teaching Spanish to mostly adults, teaching my language is one of my passions, I have many years of experience and I teach a very effective way, we aim the target language on every class to try to think, communicate and listen only in Spanish. I use my own curriculum to fit every level, I add material to customize the student’s needs and based on questions and answers, the student retains, comprehends and uses correct grammar.
We also read on each class, use illustrations and items to introduce vocabulary and expand our ideas with that.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would Take 10 to 15 minutes to get to know their level , if the student is advanced, we would be talking in Spanish the whole time during the evaluation and that would help me to see the areas that she or he needs to practice and improve.
If the student is a beginner, I would talk about the ways we will follow up in class, the material we will be using, the expectations, the way I will be introducing the vocabulary and grammar at the beginning and make it more advanced and challenging each time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have had several trainings and over 30 years of experience working with all ages and all levels.
I took an intense training about grammar and the use of it.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My overall rate is $35.00 dollars per hour. I’m willing to travel up to 10 miles to meet the student at a work place, cafe or home.
I recommend material to be purchased by the student.
How did you get started teaching?
I was 19 years old when I was looking for a job whith limited English.
I found this place with no English as a requirement, had two interviews and I was hired.
I started teaching groups of 5 people or more and I was convinced that with the right material and curriculum, the student can learn to speak the language, learn about other cultures and traditions and enjoy having conversations in Spanish!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with local people interested on learning just for fun, to improve their skill or for work purposes.
Several of those students were well known athletes, medical doctors, college Deans, St. Paul Police Department, The Twins baseball administrators, tv anchors, company’s CEOs, vicepresidentes and business people, FBI agents and small business owner, among others.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
St. Paul Police Department was one of my favorite experiences, I had 17 police officers in class everyday for weeks.
At their graduation day, each of them gave a speech in Spanish but in class they were attentive, motivated, engaged, inquisitive, funny.
Their performance for a soap opera we prepared at the end of the class was espectacular!!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
To listen to the teacher’s observations, expectations, curriculum and way to introduce the target language by attending that firsts classes.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Questions about the process of learning this new language and the material they will be using.
Questions about the teacher’s expectations.
Questions about the best way to engage, commit and meet their goals.
Questions about the frequency that it might take to get to their goal.
