I have worked with the very young (20 years old minimun) to retirees. I have also worked with the handicapped and disabled who are restricted to a wheel chair.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my more interesting students was a student who opted to tag along with her spouse to learn more about Minnesota permit to carry. During a break she informed me she was against firearms and wasn't all that excited her husband wanted to carry a gun.
At about the midpoint of my training, I noticed this woman was asking lots of questions and participaing in class discussions.
By the end of the training she asked to qualify so she too could get her Minnesota permit to carry. This husband and wife team took additional firearms training weeks later.
I was later approached by this woman and told she was educated in a way about firearms that she had never heard before and understands now more than ever she is her family's first responder and takes that responsibility seriously and thanked me for my instruction.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would encourage you vet every instructor before signing up for the training.
Make sure the instructor is the "real deal" before registering or paying for training. I would encourage you call the instrutor if you have quesitons, Google search the instructor's business and name for additional information.
As far as training costs, you get what you pay for. Price is what you pay, value is what you get!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What type of training are you seeking? Most instructors provide different type of training based on the class they are teaching. For example, my permit to carry training is appropriate for the beginner to the seasoned/well experienced.
I teach a Basic Pistol Class and this class is suited for the new or intermediate level shooter. I would not recommend this class for the advanced shooter.
