Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Going through the technical aspects of how a camera works and beginning the 'Rule of Thirds'.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Graduated as a Professional Photographer through the New York Institute of Photography. And graduated with a Merit Award on my last submission project.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$20 per hour
How did you get started teaching?
A few friends started getting interested in photography and would call on me to set up days to help teach them.
What types of students have you worked with?
My last student was a 48-year old Mom who wanted to be able to take great photos at her niece's wedding.
From ages 16-years old to 50-years of age.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Photographing my oldest friend's wedding. Even though I was part of the wedding (bridesmaid) I was still able to capture her happy day.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who will work with you, instead of simply pointing out the facts. Look for a teacher that will think 'outside of the box' and give get suggestions. A big part of photography is the imagination and how you can translate that into photography.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Gain a basic understanding of your camera. Basically, get comfortable with handling your camera, and carrying your camera pretty much everywhere.
