Batting Buddies

Batting Buddies

About this pro

Hello! I am a 22 year old slowpitch softball player. I played fast pitch softball for 15 years. I excelled as a catcher and third basemen. I was also able to bat right handed and slap hit left handed. In high school I was also given the opportunity to umpire both competitive and recreational games.

There are so many great things about both baseball and softball. My junior and senior years of high school I was given the chance to work with a 14 and under girls team. I mainly worked with infielders and more specifically pitchers and catchers.

I now enjoy working with various of my friends children on their skills in various positions. I believe learning to play well requires hard work, determination, but most importantly fun! Throughout my life I have seen too many quit due to too much pressure and too little fun. I wish to defy that so my students stick with this amazing sport!

I simply love spreading my joy and love of the game. My best memories are on a softball diamond.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The first meeting I like to determine where a student is at and determine what they would like to imrpove at most. I also observe and see what I think they could improve on as well. I then like to begin on common ground of what everyone would like to see progress with first.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I received professional training and guidance during high school. I played competitive softball and high school ball growing up. I have also been a certified umpire.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I work with students and parents on fair pricing. It is based on distance traveled and time spent. I also can include videos.

How did you get started teaching?

I have always loved being active and sharing my love of the sport with others. I think it is important to be positive and have fun!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

You need to choose someone who you can get along with. I believe commitment and communication is very important.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What is your goal? What are you willing to do to reach it? You need to know what your weaknesses and strengths are in order to improve.
