About
I have 30+ years of professional, private teaching experience. I specialize in tailoring the lessons to the students specific goals using the music they love. I teach students of all ages and all levels, including varying levels of physical and learning challenges. I have taught hundreds of students ages 5-85 in all different styles of music and music theory on the guitar, bass, and ukulele. My favorite feeling is when a student can't stop smiling because they are able to make the sound they want to hear!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to begin by learning what kind of music you listen to and would like to play. You might jot down a short list of songs you'd like to learn how to play so that I can get a sense of your taste and help carve your direction. It is also useful to know your musical aspirations. Whether you want to join a band or just play for friends and family, I will work with you to help you achieve your goals through the music you love.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started playing professionally when I was 15 and continued to do so while studying music performance and education at the University of Kansas. After touring the country with my band, I got married, and started a wonderful family. Since then, I’ve been performing and recording with various bands while helping people reach their musical goals through teaching private music lessons full-time.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?
I've always loved helping others achieve their musical goals through the music they love. I studied guitar and music education at the University of Kansas. I've had various jobs in the music industry throughout my career, and I have over 30 years of professional teaching experience.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students of all ages and all levels, including students with varying levels of physical and learning challenges. Although I normally don't accept students under the age of 7, exceptions can be made.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for an experienced professional teacher. Talk to the teacher to see if their method or style of teaching appeals to you. Find someone who is is receptive to your unique taste in music and your musical aspirations. The learning process should then be fun and engaging!
