About

I have 30+ years of professional, private teaching experience. I specialize in tailoring the lessons to the students specific goals using the music they love. I teach students of all ages and all levels, including varying levels of physical and learning challenges. I have taught hundreds of students ages 5-85 in all different styles of music and music theory on the guitar, bass, and ukulele. My favorite feeling is when a student can't stop smiling because they are able to make the sound they want to hear!

Scott is incredibly easy to work with, flexible, and accommodating. As far as I can tell, he is skilled and very knowledgeable with the guitar, acoustic and electric.

I have had two lessons with Scott and I am having a great time. We communicate well together, and he has a lot of knowledge and experience that he can pass on to me. I expect to continue my lessons for quite some time. Scott was a great find for me.

Very personable and has a great knack for bringing himself to the skill level of the beginner. You can tell he loves music and wants you to enjoy it as well.

    Frequently asked questions

I like to begin by learning what kind of music you listen to and would like to play. You might jot down a short list of songs you'd like to learn how to play so that I can get a sense of your taste and help carve your direction. It is also useful to know your musical aspirations. Whether you want to join a band or just play for friends and family, I will work with you to help you achieve your goals through the music you love.

I started playing professionally when I was 15 and continued to do so while studying music performance and education at the University of Kansas. After touring the country with my band, I got married, and started a wonderful family. Since then, I’ve been performing and recording with various bands while helping people reach their musical goals through teaching private music lessons full-time.

I've always loved helping others achieve their musical goals through the music they love. I studied guitar and music education at the University of Kansas.  I've had various jobs in the music industry throughout my career, and I have over 30 years of professional teaching experience.

I've worked with students of all ages and all levels, including students with varying levels of physical and learning challenges. Although I normally don't accept students under the age of 7, exceptions can be made.

Look for an experienced professional teacher. Talk to the teacher to see if their method or style of teaching appeals to you. Find someone who is is receptive to your unique taste in music and your musical aspirations. The learning process should then be fun and engaging!
